Here is Thyge Enevoldson's lovely recollection of a day that the family enjoyed on 2nd June 1953.
"On this date June 2nd in 1953, Dad, Mum, Kristina and myself climbed into our Austin 8 and drove from Dorchester to Hull in 8 hours. The purpose of which was to watch the Coronation on the new television at Gadshill, 210 Park Avenue, Hull. Thinking back I thought Grandma was there but now I realise that it must have been Aunty Audry alone living at 210. There were several of us grouped to watch the TV so I presume it would possibly have been Audrey, Babe (Ivor), Stuart, Doreen and Leslie plus families. I do remember that we drove back to Dorchester the same night."In November 2001 I recieved a wonderfully informative e mail from John Enevoldson, the son of John Michael Enevoldson. here are some extracts from the e mail.
Leonard Enevoldson told me that Great Grandfather Enevold Thygesen (1827-1922) served in the Danish Army and fought against Bismark at the Battle of Flensburg in 1862. Leonard believed that he was awarded a medal for his bravery. Here is a photo of Leslie Enevoldson visiting the former Danish home of his Father, Thyge Andersen Enevoldsen.
