A Respected Man

"Sir - I feel it incumbent upon me to express in true words, simple though they may be, how deeply sorry I was to learn of the tragic death of Mr Enevoldson, Skipper of the trawler Lord Deramore. Skipper Enevoldson was beloved by all who knew him, for his exceptional quality of modesty, blended with human sympathy and courage. A man who despised publicity, he was one of Hull's most competent skippers.
Skipper Enevoldson died as he would have wished, on the sea that he so dearly loved, and in his words of good wishes for his son's safety he revealed his true character of unselfishness at the very last".

Family Memories and Recollections of past times

Here is Thyge Enevoldson's lovely recollection of a day that the family enjoyed on 2nd June 1953.

"On this date June 2nd in 1953, Dad, Mum, Kristina and myself climbed into our Austin 8  and drove from Dorchester to Hull in 8 hours. The purpose of which was to watch the Coronation on the new television at Gadshill, 210 Park Avenue, Hull.  Thinking back I thought Grandma was there but now I realise that it must have been Aunty Audry alone living at 210.   There were several of us grouped to watch the TV so I presume it would possibly have been Audrey, Babe (Ivor), Stuart, Doreen and Leslie plus families.   I do remember that we drove back to Dorchester the same night."
In November 2001 I recieved a wonderfully informative e mail from John Enevoldson, the son of John Michael Enevoldson.  here are some extracts from the e mail.
Leonard Enevoldson told me that Great Grandfather Enevold Thygesen (1827-1922) served in the Danish Army and fought against Bismark at the Battle of Flensburg in 1862.  Leonard believed that he was awarded a medal for his bravery.
Here is a photo of Leslie Enevoldson visiting the former Danish home of his Father, Thyge Andersen Enevoldsen.
